Welcome to Exercising Amy!

My name is Amy and I am so glad you found me!  I have created this website to chronicle my transition to a plant-based vegan lifestyle and share the good, the bad and the ugly that goes along with that change.  I currently reside in the Midwest with my husband and daughter on our small family show/meat swine farm.  Yes, I did just say that!!  Never in a million years would I have ever thought I would be Vegan but here I am!  We started raising our hogs about 6 years ago as our daughter is a show girl in 4 h and of course that led to raising meat as well.  😦

I don’t know that I am your “typical” Vegan as I do cook meat for my family.  I don’t eat anything from an animal but that is MY choice and even though I know my family would be healthier making the same choice I refuse to push it on them or anyone for that matter.  I did just that about a year or so ago after I watched my first documentary – Forks Over Knives.  It did not work so well!

I have had a love for animals my entire life but my plant based vegan transition has come out of me wanting my life/health back.  I was tired of going from one diet to another and feeling like crap all the time.  I will tell you that raising hogs made it clearer to me that all animals have feelings and how could I honestly pet one of my hogs and then a month later eat it.  The struggle was very real but I am in a better place now with my soul.  It feels good to have peace within ones self.
